Frequently Asked Questions
What services do you offer?
We offer a wide range of home improvement solutions designed to meet your needs. Our limiting factor is not the type of project, but the size of the team needed. If you want to add a wing to your house, that’s not for us. But there is very little we can’t do within the confines of your existing footprint. The one exception to that statement is outdoor decks. We love building and rebuilding decks!
Let’s discuss what you have in mind and, if it’s not for us, we will try to suggest other contractors that might be more suitable for your needs.
How do you charge?
We primarily work at a fixed hourly rate. Experience has shown that as we collaborate along the way, alterations in scope are common, making fixed price projects impractical for both parties. Any potential changes in scope are discussed with you as options, not mandates, so you will never be surprised when the bill arrives.
As for materials, for our mutual convenience, they are typically acquired by us on your behalf and invoiced to you at cost on a pass-through basis. However, if you are able to obtain these materials at a lower cost, such as with a military discount, we should do that. Again, as I don’t make money off of the materials, getting the right materials on time and at the lowest cost is paramount.
It is important to note that we generally do not ask for any money upfront. Depending on the size of the project, we invoice for our time either as progress payments or upon completion. Materials we procure on your behalf must be reimbursed within 7 days from the date of delivery to avoid carrying costs.
What makes you different?
We combine a thoughtful, human-centered approach with clear communication and reliable results. It’s not just what we do—it’s how we do it that sets us apart.
Whether large or small, our projects are all developed and conducted in close collaboration with the homeowner, from the first discussion to the final finishing details. Years of experience on a wide variety of projects enable us to bring unique perspectives and creative ideas to the project, while maintaining a pragmatic lens to prevent over-engineered approaches.
“Meticulous” is a word that clients often use to describe our work. We treat every project - and every home - as if it were our own home that we would proudly share with our family and friends. We are guests in your home and strive to minimize any disruption to your life while we are working there.
There is another very unique aspect to our collaborative approach. We encourage hands-on participation when your time and interest allow. And you don’t need to be an experienced carpenter, tiler or cabinet installer. If you want help and take direction well, we would love to have you involved.
